Solitary suns like ours are not as rare as we once thought, boosting the likelihood that there are other life-friendly solar systems in the universe.
It is not always easy to tell if a star has a companion, since they are often too close together to distinguish as separate objects with a telescope. But astronomers can look for other clues, such as periodic changes in the star system’s light spectrum caused by the motion of the stars as they orbit one another.
Previous surveys had suggested that most systems containing a star the same mass as our sun have two or more stars orbiting each other, in contrast to our solar system. Now that has been thrown into doubt.

A crop circle thought to be inspired by a formula acclaimed as the most beautiful in all mathematics has appeared on a hillside in Wiltshire.
The circle, which is more than 300ft in diameter, was cut into a field of oil seed rape by Wilton Windmill at Wilton near Marlborough.
Experts say that the design may be connected to Euler’s Identity, a complex formula devised by the 18th Century Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler.

In the chronicles of UFO oddness, there’s been a long-standing oddity — some say folklore, others deem it reality. This saga, now over four decades old, centers on a reported out-of-the-sky incident involving the small town of Kecksburg, Pennsylvania.
The date is Dec. 9, 1965: Residents see a ball of fire shooting through the darkening evening sky and then, seemingly, the object — purportedly shaped like a jumbo acorn after impact — makes some sort of controlled crash into the woods. From there, the strangeness factor escalates with purported military personnel isolating the area from curious onlookers and toting something out of the locale on a flatbed truck.
A meteorite? A wayward classified aircraft?

Newswise — The mysterious 1908 Tunguska explosion that leveled 830 square miles of Siberian forest was almost certainly caused by a comet entering the Earth’s atmosphere, says new Cornell University research. The conclusion is supported by an unlikely source: the exhaust plume from the NASA space shuttle launched a century later.

For decades, these UFO sightings have been explained away as meteors or other things. But what is interesting that before the Wright brothers launched an airplane, flying crafts were already visible in the skies. None of these crafts could really be explained away as weather balloons or meteorites, to witnesses of the 1800s the crafts were not from this earth.
The Wright Brothers may have been the first to put an machine into the sky…

At 2:34 in the afternoon of May 31, the husband of an Unknowncountry.com subscriber happened to glance out a window of their Eden Isles, Louisiana home, which overlooks Lake Ponchatrain and has a wide view of the sky.
To his amazement, he saw an unusual silver object hanging motionless in the clear blue, and took what has turned out to be one of the clearest and most detailed images ever made of a UFO.
